Leanpath is taking action to foster diversity, equity and inclusion

The recent deaths of people of color and the elements of global systemic racism that they have highlighted is incredibly sobering and in many ways unthinkable. Leanpath is a technology company with an environmental focus, but we are people first, and we share the planet with everyone. And so we can’t turn away. The push for change and action is rightly everywhere, and our team at Leanpath is inspired to take action–to do what we can to enable a sharp transition to an equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist society which truly embraces diversity as strength across all sectors and institutions.

This will not happen unless we all commit to dismantling systemic racism where we each stand. For Leanpath, that’s within our organization and across our communities, partners and clients.

We’ve created a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council to guide our efforts.

The charter for the council is to advance diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the Leanpath culture by recommending the strategy, engaging the broader organization, and working to set and carry out annual and quarterly initiatives and commitments. We are on a journey as an organization, and the DEI Council ensures we stay focused, motivated, and aligned to our goals.

The Leanpath DEI strategy is being built under three pillars: 1) Building an inclusive culture, 2) Recruiting and retaining a diverse team, and 3) Empowering underrepresented groups.

We are on a journey.

At Leanpath, we’re committed to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture. We believe that diversity–of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, beliefs and thoughts–drives innovation; that equity requires us to humbly and proactively overcome implicit biases; that inclusion allows every person to bring their full and authentic self to work, and to actively lift up voices that have been marginalized.

One of the first elements of work was to ensure our commitment in DEI is reflected in our core values.

Our core values embody our mission-based organizational culture. They are more than just words on the wall. Our revised set of core values speaks to this commitment while staying authentic to who we are as an organization. There are 6 in total: drive & productivity, excellence, equity, humility, kindness & inclusion, and teamwork.

As part of our DEI work, we also recently introduced paid volunteer hours as an additional benefit for Leanpath team members, encouraging our employees to put words into action by volunteering their time to uplift their communities. This is just one small step in the right direction.

We’re hopeful and committed to our journey ahead as an organization. Every voice, every person, can make a difference in this quest for racial justice and equity.
